People with Falling Leaves

We want our love ones to be taken cared of all the time as long as we can. They deserve our care and love especially when they grow old. During their mighty years they had showered upon us their blessings and done their responsibility. They are the ones who take care of our education, health and everything that we need as a living individual. Now that they’re like a flower with falling leaves and weak stems it’s our time to do our part. In the Philippines, it’s the family members who look after their aging parents or grandparents. However, today people are more practical and had adapted the ways of western people. If the children are busy with their own career they prefer to send their old and aging family members in respectable institutions where their love ones are taken cared of even without their presence.Few moments ago I saw the website of homecare in Berkley CA . It made me think that we should be thankful by having good and reliable homes for aged people.

Many Filipinos cannot accept the fact that old people are cared by other people. There are still individuals who believe that it’s the family members’ responsibility to perform. Personally speaking I will do it as long as I can but if there’s a need for me to send my parents in I won’t restrict myself to do it if I know that they will have better care and medical assistance.

Teaching ESL

Today I had the toughest job of my work as a teacher. This afternoon I experienced the difficulty of teaching English as a Second Language or ESL. Language barrier is the top problem! I almost got a headache. I want my students to learn our borrowed language for them to live their life more comfortable since they’re staying in the country because of their will to learn English and academics as well. While inside the classroom I was thinking on a new approach to use on the following day to make the learning more effective and easy for them. Enough time, dedication and participation are needed if a student is willing to learn and speak good English. With my experience today I’m somehow happy because my students are very much eager to learn. I can see it. They tried to absorb everything. I understand that they can’t get everything that we had taken up but the point that they listen and participate is a good thing to keep me going and help them to step for the next level of learning.

My Awful Thursday

My day isn’t good. My niece got fever for straight 5 days after she fell down from her bicycle. It’s a bad sign that something was wrong inside her body so we decided to bring her  to the hospital for further consultation and medical tests.I just got home from the hospital. My niece is admitted again. It’s Lexi’s second time around to be admitted at the Davao Doctors Hospital. It’s uneasy when the kids are sick. Her younger sister Sophia got flue also. It was on August 20 when Lexi was first brought to the hospital. She undergone Roentgen test or commonly known as X-ray. The sad thing is both of my nieces are positive with pneumonia. Lexi is really weak and a sensitive one. When she was still in her mother’s womb, the doctors said that she can’t live because she got small lungs. Sophie had check ups too and thank God that she wasn’t admitted like her ate. She was just treated at home. These two kids got sick after they went back home from England. In less than 2 months Lexi’s got IV again. I felt pity on her when it was performed by the doctor because she was really crying and it was really hard seeing her in that kind of situation. Lexi’s not eating well. She just prefers to sleep and her eyes are not glowing. I can’t see the smiles on her face. When I visited her last August, I saw that she’s situated in a good and well-equipped room. Amenities were complete and the room was located near the nurse’s station. The two nurses on duty that time were my classmates in high school. They’re already registered nurse and they’re having their training at the same hospital.

Lexi spent 4 or 5 days at the hospital before she was discharged. At this point in time I don’t know how long she’ll be staying in there. I hope that we can get over with this one. Everybody’s affected when the kids are ailing. I’m saddened with it.

On my way home, I had an unpleasant experience. It gave me headache. I waited for a taxi for more than an hour! The rain was pouring hard and the people at the ground floor were after with the taxis too. There was a heavy traffic because of the knee-high flood at the downtown area, in Acacia and in Bajada. It’s expected that in times like this there are cars and jeepneys that might be stranded in the middle of the road because their engine stops from working.Look at their photo below before they got sick.

I’m exhausted and ungrateful with the current conditions of the babies in here. I am hoping and praying that Lexi and Sophie will get well soon. Hopefully at the end of the month they can transfer to their own rooms which are under construction at this moment. Since they’re staying here in country until next year we decided to build 3 additional rooms for the 3 kids. It’s unhealthy when the kids have no exclusive rooms for them.

Please help us through your prayers. May God bless us all.

My Unwell Angels

It’s not really ok when the kids get sick. Now my two nieces are not in good condition. One of them is admitted to the hospital. She’s been there for 3 days now. Her younger sister is also unwell. We went to the hospital yesterday for her check up. Both underwent Roentgen test or commonly called as X-ray. In my Chemistry subject in high school I can’t forget the name of the person who was able to discover the ray without name or unidentified. That’s the reason why this radiation or light is called X-ray.It was Wilhelm Roentgen who made this amazing discovery  in 1895 that took a big leap in the history of medicine!

I’m hoping and praying that my niece will be discharge as early as possible. She’s too young to be admitted! Hope she’ll get well soon. All of us are unhappy with their condition. The younger one feels better now. She doesn’t have fever unlike in the past few days. However she’s taking anti bacterial medications and solutions to provide enough liquids to her body.

Today our lolo was now buried. He died on the 21st.He’s now with our grandma. Many of our relatives came and sympathized with us.I’m glad to see them again after long years of not seeing their faces. However, I don’t feel good today. Since yesterday, I don’t feel ok. My cousin just came here and informed us all that our grandma in mom’s side is now at the hospital. She was not ok on the past week. I got to visit her :( It’s so sad to hear news like this
