This morning I was able to apply the crossword puzzle as a comprehension check after discussing the topic of the day.I can hardly remember when was the last time that I had it. In the past I’m fond of answering some after I read a newspaper or if there’s a special book which contains crossword puzzles only. While we were checking I keep on thinking when did I last took it!jajajajaja LOL. Well giving it to your students is one way of keeping their cognitive skills to function. They’ll think that they’re also playing but the fact is they’re taking a seatwork!
Crossword puzzle allow learners to connect ideas, comprehend, enhance vocabulary skills and practice their pace in learning. Through it, they’re challenge to think critically and systematically to get the right answer. Well I observe that there are students who easily give up when they found no answers to it.If this will happen in a classroom environment the teacher should apply another strategy for these set of learners. This is time when group activity is applicable. On the other hand, those who start answering it are the ones who are more interested and challenge.
